WELCOME

Fernie Women’s Resource Centre is happy to be a welcoming space and provide a variety of services to this community. Please explore our services and programs to find ways we can assist you.

Counselling

Counselling

Would you like support to feel less overwhelmed or process traumatic experiences? Our counselling programs support women, trans women, and non-binary folks who have experienced abuse, violence, or trauma and all genders who have experienced any form of sexual assault or abuse.

Outreach

Outreach

If you’ve ever faced abuse, you know it can be stressful and even traumatic. The outreach program is here to help women, including trans and non-binary people, so you don’t have to go through these tough times alone. We’re here to give you one-on-one support.

Parent Support

Parent Support

Parent-Tot Funtimes is a drop-in program for families with kids aged 0 to 6. We have fun activities with toys, songs and stories, and a craft or activity! Also check out our Family Connections programs, including the My Baby and Me music group and Parent Connections Program. Bellies to Babies is a unique program for expecting and new parents.

Early Years

Early Years

The Fernie Early Years team is a group of service providers and community members. They meet once a month to share info, spot what the community needs, and work to make sure families get the best early years services. Jaffray preschool offers a wide range of activities for 3- and 4-year-olds including games, songs, crafts, and more.

About Us

Since 1979 the Fernie Women’s Centre has been serving the communities of the Elk Valley, which include Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford and the South Country. Our aim is to raise the status of women, act as a referral and drop-in center, offer support to women and their families, and to inform and educate the public around issues concerning women. The Fernie Women’s Centre will strive for equality and justice for all women and work for the removal of barriers to women’s full economic, social, cultural, legal and political participation.

Make a Contribution

When you donate to Fernie Womens’ Resource Centre you help make a positive impact in a variety of ways

This infographic has four parts and explains four ways donations are of service to the community. The Emergency Support Fund helps women access a small amount of funding if they are unable to find financial support elsewhere. This fund is generally meant to help them move forward in life by covering basic needs such as food and shelter. The Diapers and Formula program helps provide critical items for children. The Christmas Support program helps between 80-100 families in the Elk Valley provide their children with food and gifts. Finally, the Safe House Fund supports women who are needing financial assistance with securing a safe place to live.
